The problem

Manually building rosters is slow, and spreadsheets make the tradeoffs invisible.

Why RapidRoster

RapidRoster lets organizers state those tradeoffs as an explicit rule list — then finds placements that respect hard constraints and score best on the soft ones.

Import people and slots, set priorities, generate assignments, review what was traded off, and export when it feels right. Projects save so you can leave and come back.

Four building-block rules

Compose groupings from a few fundamental rules — not dozens of one-off settings.

  1. Cluster

Keep matched people together, or place someone in a matching slot — teammate requests, preference columns, overlapping availability.

  2. Separate

Spread similar participants apart — schools across teams, experienced players, people who should not share a slot.

  3. Limit

Cap or require counts per slot — maximum 2 keepers, minimum 1 coach.

  4. Balance

Even out a number across slots — skill, age, or any other score you track.

Soft rules guide the search by score (partial success still counts). Hard rules never allow illegal placements. Mark priority from 1–100.

How it works

  1. Sign in and create a project

Save people, slots, rules, and results — come back later.

  2. Import people and slots

CSV in, column types set, sizes and conflict groups configured.

  3. Add rules

Cluster, Separate, Limit, Balance — with priority and hard/soft.

  4. Generate, review, export

Primary run plus alternatives, satisfaction report, download CSV.
